Our Community Bank ® Bringing Banking Benefits to Our Communities

Your community company was founded on the belief that a community that comes together can really make a difference. A community company, Community Financial Services Victoria Ltd was established by 232 members of our communities who contributed over $700,000 to bring banking services to their towns.

In early 1998, the community of Lang Lang came together with the vision of establishing its own Community Bank® in the town. The Lang Lang community formed its own community company. A franchise to operate a branch of the Bendigo Bank under the banner of the Lang Lang Community Bank® Branch of Bendigo Bank was obtained and the Lang Lang community had its own bank operating 6 days a week by October of 1998.

In the following 10 years the community company that was established by the local Lang Lang community has grown to the extent that there are now three additional franchises with Bendigo Bank enabling the establishment of Bendigo Bank branches in Pearcedale, Koo Wee Rup and Narre Warren South.

What is a Community Bank®?
The Community Bank® concept is a franchise, provided by Bendigo Bank. The community, through its community company, owns the rights to establish a Bendigo Bank branch which is operated entirely by Bendigo Bank. Community Bank® branches provide communities with an opportunity through their own community companies to enhance control over the capital of their community, and with the profits made, ensure more money stays in the district for local investment, sponsorships and grant programs.

The Community Bank® branch model enables stakeholders to play an active role in enhancing the long term economic prospects of their district and in fact have a say in the manner in which profits are distributed back to their communities. The branches also provide communities with the certainty of banking services enabling customers to bank the way they want, whether that be face to face with a manager at each branch, electronically or over the phone. Your branches in Lang Lang, Pearcedale, Koo Wee Rup and Narre Warren South offer a full array of banking services as well as providing friendly, professional service to all our customers.
